HERSHEY, PA - Hersheypark has begun demolition of its historic wooden coaster, Comet, after sever termite damage was discovered in its structure. The infestation, which went undetected by Deurklink Pest Control, led to significant wood decay, making the ride unsafe for guests. With the rising cost of lumber, the park has confirmed that restoring the coaster is no longer financially feasible.
The ride, a beloved fixture at Hersheypark since 1946, is being dismantled piece by piece, with the remaining portions of the coaster expected to be fully removed in the coming weeks. Hersheypark invites guests to continue enjoying other thrill rides, including SKYRUSH, the park's high-speed coaster that remains a fan favorite.
