Welcome to Dragon’s Domain! This theme park popped up seemingly out of nowhere this year. We still don’t know what company owns this place, but there’s a rumor that it was built by an actual dragon! (In fact, that dragon “statue” by the windmill seems a little suspicious… apparently, guests have reported seeing it move in the night).
Coming from the entrance, we head down a brief forest path before exiting into the park proper. On the right is a souvenir shop and info center (themed as a "Guild House") where you can buy a plush dragon and grab a park map. If you keep heading that way, there’s a pleasant path that leads around a small lake. You can ride the ferris wheel or one of the park’s signature coasters, The Final Charge.
On the other side from the souvenir shop is the park’s main attraction, Wyvern, which is a dueling suspended coaster –the first of its kind. The queue takes you through a castle which two dragons are apparently fighting over. The yellow dragon wants to take the castle as its own lair, while the green dragon wants to destroy the castle and restore the area’s natural landscape. The ride offers many near-miss dueling moments, some good lateral forces, and a surprising amount of airtime. The theming and dueling of course evoke the now-demolished Dueling Dragons. Some are calling it a ripoff, but it has a nostalgic charm. It’s definitely a must-ride at Dragon’s Domain!
If intense rides aren’t really your thing, you can try your hand at the archery range, ride the carousel, take a swan boat out on the lake, or go for a tour of Lord Harkness’ Manor of Darkness. The park also has great food offerings, with three quick-service sit-down spots and a couple more stands where you can grab a snack or drink. The staff are friendly, and if you look carefully, you might find one of the three Dragon Knights wandering the park!
Overall, Dragon’s Domain is a great park for both enthusiasts and the general public. It’s not without its issues, of course. The lakeside path leading to The Final Charge is a bit cramped, and some of the decor is so far from the path that it’s hard to see! Perhaps this is to leave room for a phase 2 expansion? We’ll have to wait and see!
